Video Transcript for Review of Performance Tool Tools - Mutli-Function Shears - PT38ZR

Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the multi-tool shears. These are gonna be a nice, all-in-one tool to eliminate excess stuff in your RV. So if you want to have some shears, but that also has some other functionality this is a nice way to go. As far as how many things you get in one they said that this is a 9-in-1 tool. I think that that's a little bit of a stretch, but we'll talk about the things that you can do with this and I'll show you how well it cuts in just a second. So the first thing that it's gonna allow you to do is of course, use them like shears or scissors.

So really helpful in the kitchen for all kinds of stuff. I have a pair of kitchen shears that are not a multi-tool but I use them all the time for cutting up herbs, or cutting into maybe some smaller things, like carrots or stuff like that. Just if I don't, if I'm feeling lazy and I don't want to chop stuff really finely, I just want to do it really quickly, it's nice to do it with some shears. Also really helpful, if you need to prune anything, like a rosemary bush or something like that, that's a little bit harder to do rather than just like breaking it off with your hands, so pretty nice in that respect. It also does have a couple of built-in blades.

So whenever you separate it you can use it as a knife as well. So let's take a closer look and talk a little bit more about that functionality. So the first thing I noticed with those blades is that they're gonna be kind of hard to hold. They're a little bit awkward. The handle does work okay for that.

So this is going to be our serrated blade on this knife edge. On the other side, there's also a course knife edge. So that's how you would use it. Now, I don't think that they intend for you to use that as a chopping blade, 'cause, again, the handle is going to be pretty awkward, but if you we're to choke up on that a little bit you can maybe use it as a paring knife. Although right here we have another edge, and they say that this is a peeler I believe.

This looks similar to some other tools I've seen that are actually, this would be a bone knife. So that little pocket there catches a bone, and helps to hold it in place so that as you're trying to cut through it with the scissors, it doesn't pop out at you. So I think that, again, would be helpful if you're trying to de-bone a chicken, or cut up a whole chicken, or something like that to again grab in there and then just allow you to cut through that without it popping out, or getting pushed out the front of the blades. So I'm not sure how easy it would be to use that, those blades separately. This one would probably be the most likely one. This is the fine blade edge. Again, the handle's a little bit awkward, but it does give you another blade there to use. Something that I think that will be probably pretty useful, or pretty likely to be useful, will be the nutcracker here. You could also use this to crack open crab claws, or anything like that. You can also use that to open some bottle tops. So maybe if you've got a stubborn bottle of vinegar or oil or something, and you did grab on to that, that can work pretty well for that and you can twist it off there. The little tabs on the end, they say that this can be a screwdriver, but it's pretty much exactly square, so I think those would actually work better as like a punch. If you need to punch a hole into a can, maybe with some canned fruit to, or fruit salad or something like that, so you can open it up and allow that to come out without it kind of glugging along, that might be helpful there. This you can use as a bottle opener, or also a tab lifter. So that's pretty much the functions there. I think it should be pretty useful. Again, gives you a lot of different things in one. As far as how well it cuts, I've got this thick cardboard here. It's just the insert of a roll of wrap that we use here at the shop, and let's just see how well these scissors can cut into it. This is super thick, so I'm not really expecting to cut super deep, but it's making its way through this. Okay. So I just wanted to show something that's pretty thick. This is actually kind of too thick I think for these shears, but they're trying to grab on and do their job. Let's see how the knife edge will do. So here again, it does okay. Serrated blade is not super sharp. The fine edge, I think probably will do the best job but, this is probably an unfair test just because this is so stupid thick, but I was just looking around for something to find, to cut into, just to give it a little bit of a field test. All in all I think it should be a good way to eliminate some excess stuff. As far as the size, the whole thing is about 10 1/4 inch long, so it should be able to fit into a drawer pretty easy. That's pretty much it for our quick look at the tool shears. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right tool for you. We do have a lot of other RV and tools here at, RV gear and tools here at etrailer.com. So be sure to check them out and thanks for watching..
